New York Weatherization and Low-Income Energy Programs

New York Weatherization

Weatherization Services reduces the amount of energy required to heat homes and provide hot water. The majority of homes in New York State were built when energy was relatively inexpensive. These homes are significantly more costly to heat than a newer energy-efficient home.

New York's Weatherization Assistance Program provides weatherization services to low-income persons throughout the state. The Weatherization Assistance Program reduces household energy use and costs by improving the energy efficiency of a participant's home. The statewide Weatherization Assistance Program is administered by the Division of Housing and Community Renewal. This division is responsible for the statewide oversight of the program and subcontracts with local Weatherization Assistance Providers, which deliver weatherization services at the local level.
