Colorado Weatherization
The Colorado Governor's Energy Offices provides free energy efficiency services based on income. Eligible housing types include single-family houses, mobile homes, and multifamily units. Services include a comprehensive energy audit; attic, wall and crawlspace insulation; air leakage reduction; forced air furnace efficiency assessment; appliance safety inspection; high efficiency lighting survey; and other potential safety problems inspection.

The Weatherization Assistance Program Technical Assistance Center (WAPTAC) publishes a summary of funding, contacts, and links to state directives for local weatherization agencies involving standards for service.
Energy and Low-Income Heating Assistance (LIHEAP) in Colorado
Complete List of Colorado's Low-Income Energy Programs
The National Energy Accessibility and Affordability Project (NEAAP) publishes a complete list of the programs available to low-income households in the state, including those funded by federal and state governments, Colorado utilities, and charities. NEAAP publishes this list as part of the LIHEAP Clearinghouse, which is maintained on the National Center for Appropriate Technology Web site and receives support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The list also includes LIHEAP contacts in Colorado. Under federal rules, Colorado can use up to 25% of its LIHEAP funds for weatherization.
State Energy Assistance Programs
Colorado has both weatherization and low-income assistance. The following programs are available.
- LEAP (Low-income Energy Assistance Program)
The Colorado Department of Human Services administers LEAP, a federally funded program designed to help with your winter heating costs. Colorado lists online its guidelines and eligibility requirements for this service. - Energy Outreach Colorado
Energy Outreach Colorado is coalition of Colorado utilities that provide temporary assistance to needy families through donations from utility customers. - National Energy Affordability and Accessibility Project-National Center for Appropriate Technology
This organization lists various energy assistance programs and emergency charitable assistance programs in addition to those listed above.
