Arkansas Weatherization and Low-Income Energy Programs
Arkansas Weatherization
The DOE-funded Weatherization Assistance Program for the state is administered by the Arkansas Department of Human Services. It provides funds to conserve energy in the homes of low-income people, with emphasis on elderly, handicapped, and families with children. Cost effective measures on single frame houses and mobile homes include replacement of broken windows, caulking and weather stripping doors and windows, and other energy-saving measures.

Complete List of Arkansas's Low-Income Energy Programs
The National Energy Accessibility and Affordability Project (NEAAP) publishes a complete list of the programs available to low-income households in the state, including those funded by federal and state governments, Arkansas utilities, and charities. NEAAP publishes this list as part of the LIHEAP Clearinghouse, which is maintained on the National Center for Appropriate Technology Web site and receives support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The list also includes LIHEAP contacts in Arkansas. Under federal rules, Arkansas can use up to 25% of its LIHEAP funds for weatherization.

The Arkansas Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
This program helps low-income households with home energy costs by administering the Regular Assistance and Crisis Intervention programs. Each program provides financial assistance to eligible households with a one-time per year payment to the household's energy supplier or, under certain circumstances, to the applicant. The Crisis Intervention Program only provides assistance to eligible households facing energy-related emergencies.
