DOE Reports Dealing With Weatherization

The U.S. Department of Energy has published a number of reports documenting savings from and evaluations of the Weatherization Assistance Program. Most of these technical reports are published by and are available online from DOE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Some of the following documents are available as Adobe Acrobat PDFs. Download Adobe Reader.

  • Weatherizing the Homes of Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program Clients: A Programmatic Assessment

    (PDF 114 KB)
ORNL researchers demonstrate a reduction of emergency energy assistance required by low-income clients of weatherization; Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; ORNL/CON-486; 34 pp.; June 2002.

  • Meeting the Challenge: The Prospect of Achieving 30% Energy Savings Through the Weatherization Assistance Program

    (PDF 408 KB)
Oak Ridge National Laboratory publishes this report written by Martin Schweitzer and Joel Eisenberg about the potential savings; ORNL/CON-479; 64 pp.; May 2002.

  • Non-Energy Benefits of Weatherization

ORNL researchers demonstrate substantial energy and non-energy benefits from weatherization. For every dollar of federal funding invested in weatherization, there are $1.83 worth of energy benefits and $1.88 worth of non-energy benefits. Or read the report: Non-Energy Benefits from the Weatherization Assistance Program-A Summary of Findings from Recent Literature (PDF 235 KB); Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Oak Ridge, TN; ORNL/CON-484; 41 pp.; April 2002.

  • Hazard Identification and Mitigation Manual

This manual outlines materials for a workshop intended for weatherization service providers; published by the Partnership for Advanced Technology in Housing; 245 pp.; August 2000.

  • Progress Report of the National Weatherization Assistance Program
