Funding History

This section provides a brief history of DOE funding for tribal energy projects. To learn about funding in a particular year, choose from the column at left.

From 2002 to 2008, DOE's Tribal Energy Program funded 93 tribal energy projects totaling $16.5 million (see chart below). These federal funds were leveraged by $6.4 million in cost share contributed by the tribes. Of available funds, 88% was awarded directly to tribes to pursue their projects.

Note that the federal government's fiscal (financial) year starts on October 1 in the preceding calendar year. Thus, fiscal year 2006 (FY 2006) is the period from October 1, 2005, to September 30, 2006.
