Iowa's Waverly Light and Power, a municipal utility located about 150 miles northeast of Des Moines, has produced an 8.5 minute promotional video on wind energy. Waverly became the first municipal utility west of the Mississippi to install a wind turbine in 1993, and currently operates three wind turbines with a combined rated capacity of 2.4 megawatts (MW). The turbines provide five percent of the energy needs of the city.
