Iowa Passes Wind Energy Bill
August 03, 2003
Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack signed legislation into law on April 11 relating to ownership of alternative energy production facilities by public utilities. The law will encourage investments in wind energy production in Iowa. Said Vilsack, "This legislation will help put Iowa well on our way to reaching the goal of becoming energy independent and producing 1,000 MW of renewable energy per year by the end of the decade." Under the bill, utilities will qualify to meet more aggressive targets for energy generation from renewable sources.
