Colorado Expands Rural Renewable Energy

June 20, 2013

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper  on June 5 signed into law the  “Renewable Energy Standard Retail Wholesale Methane” bill which supports development of wind, solar, and other innovative energy resources. It is designed to expand construction and manufacturing opportunities in rural areas through large wind and solar projects  as well as newly eligible waste-to-energy industries.

He also signed an Executive Order related to the legislation which creates an advisory committee to the Director of the Colorado Energy Office on the effectiveness of bill. The advisory committee will work to address the cost and feasibility concerns of the companies impacted by this legislation.  See the governor's press release.
