Obama Administration Delivers More than $288 Million for Weatherization Programs in Seven States
DOE delivered more than $288 million in Recovery Act funding on July 6 to expand weatherization assistance programs in Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and New Hampshire. The funds will help these states achieve their goal of weatherizing more than 91,000 homes of families earning low incomes. More

Massachusetts Grants Permits for Cape Wind Project
Massachusetts has given the green light to the 454- megawatt Cape Wind Project, the first offshore wind farm in the nation. The state's Energy Facilities Siting Board granted all of the state and local permits for the project on May 28, allowing Cape Wind Associates to proceed to construction. More

Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Raises More Than $117 Million in Third Auction
Funds raised by a mid-March auction of carbon dioxide emissions allowances by the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative exceeded $117 million, $10 million more than the auction held in December 2008. The funds will be invested in energy efficiency and clean energy technologies in 10 Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. More

Western Massachusetts Electric Company Files Large-Scale Solar Energy Plan
Western Massachusetts Electric Company has submitted a solar energy plan to the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities that would implement large-scale solar installations, which could begin generating power by 2010. The sale of renewable energy credits would help pay for the program. More
