Georgia Power Wins Approval to Switch Coal Plant to Biomass Power

Range Fuels Breaks Ground on Commercial Cellulosic Ethanol Plant

Range Fuels, Inc. broke ground on one the nation's first commercial cellulosic ethanol plants on November 6th. The biorefinery is one of six to receive DOE funding. Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman attended the groundbreaking and noted the importance of the future facility. More

Georgia's First E85 Station Opens in Atlanta Area

Georgia has opened its first E85 station at a Texaco Food Mart in Smyrna, about 15 miles northwest of Atlanta. General Motors, CleanFUEL Distribution, SP Petroleum, and Indore Oil all contributed to the effort. More

Georgia Utility Signs Purchase Agreement for 25 Megawatts of Biomass Power

Georgia Power recently signed a contract with Greenleaf Environmental Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of Biomass Gas & Electric, LLC, to purchase 25 megawatts of renewable power. The agreement significantly expands renewable power capacity in Georgia and comes as a result of the utility adding flexibility to its approach to contracting with renewable power generators. More

Georgia Announces Plans for Nation’s First Wood-Chip Ethanol Plant

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced February 7 that Range Fuels, Inc., a Colorado-based cellulosic ethanol company, will build a wood-based cellulosic ethanol plant in Treutlen County. The facility will be the nation’s first wood-to- ethanol plant built on a commercial scale. More
