Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Raises More Than $117 Million in Third Auction
Funds raised by a mid-March auction of carbon dioxide emissions allowances by the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative exceeded $117 million, $10 million more than the auction held in December 2008. Delaware has doubled its renewable energy requirement, mandating that utilities draw on renewable energy for 20% of their power needs by 2019. The bill also requires solar power to provide at least one-tenth of the renewable power mandate in 2019. More

Delaware Governor Cuts Ribbon on Solar-Powered Poultry Facility
Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner recently joined other
dignitaries at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a 42-kilowatt
solar system at a poultry operation in southwest Delaware. A
$250,000 rebate from the state's Green Energy Program
covered about half the cost of the system, which is the
subject of a pilot solar electric study.
