Kentucky Governor Publishes Comprehensive Energy Plan

February 07, 2005

Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher released a comprehensive energy plan for the Commonwealth that promotes clean coal, biofuels, and energy efficiency. The governor received the plan from the state's Energy Policy Task Force in a ceremony at the capitol on February 7. He said the plan meets the goals of maintaining a low-cost energy supply, responsibly develop Kentucky's energy resources, and preserve its commitment to the environment. It also establishes the Utility Savings Council that will work systematically to reduce energy bills of state agencies. The governor's office publishes the plan online (PDF 2.3 MB).

A bipartisan coalition of state officials and businesses participated in developing the plan and promoting its release. For details, see the governor's February 7 press release.

In addition to releasing the document, Governor Fletcher issued a series of executive orders supporting its implementation. Read them online as published by the Kentucky Energy Office.
