West Virginia Wind Power Moratorium Request Denied

January 25, 2005

On January 25, the West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC) denied a request for a moratorium on wind energy projects. A regional opposition group had asked the PSC to halt wind projects until "responsible siting provisions" were established, even though some proposed projects had already been approved or were going through the Commission's review process. After reviewing the evidence, the PSC concluded that the system in place to certify power projects is effective.
