Rhode Island Announces Green Power Incentives

March 03, 2003

The Rhode Island Renewable Energy Fund announced new incentives for green power electricity suppliers. The incentives are provided on a per-customer basis for residents and small businesses that sign up for green power until $1,360,000 is paid out. Similarly, $500,000 is available in incentives for green power providers who market to large and institutional customers.

The fund is paid through a systems benefits charge on electricity sales in the state. (Rhode Island has a deregulated electricity market.) The Rhode Island State Energy Office publishes more details online about the incentives from the Rhode Island Renewable Energy Fund.
