Maine's Goal to Purchase 50% Green Power
Maine's Goal to Purchase 50% Green Power Maine Governor John E. Baldacci set one of the most ambitious goals in the country for state government purchases of green power on March 13th. It was part of a larger economic development package the governor sent to the Maine legislature. Baldacci set a goal for state agencies to obtain 50% of their electricity from what he calls "reasonably priced" renewable power generation. He plans for the green power premiums to be paid from energy-efficiency savings in state buildings and facilities. For more details, see the governor's online proclamation titled Meeting Main's Environmental Needs.
