Montana Dedicates First Wind Cooperative

December 03, 2003

Our Wind Co-op dedicated Montana's first cooperatively owned wind turbines on a ranch near Stanford on October 14. The three turbines are each rated at 10 kW and are installed about 50 miles east of Great Falls near Stanford.

The installations were aided by Our Wind Co-op, a partnership that invests in locally owned, small-scale wind turbines on farms, ranches, and rural facilities across the Northwest. Our Wind Co-op plans for additional six turbines to begin operating in 2004.

Project funding is provided by DOE, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, the National Center for Appropriate Technology through the Northwestern Energy USB program, and the Montana State Department of Environmental Quality.
