New Mexico Green Power Program Begins October 1

October 03, 2003

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission approved a green pricing program, called "Sky Blue," for Public Service Company of New Mexico. The utility will offer this program to its customers beginning October 1. Sky Blue consists of 100% wind energy from the newly constructed New Mexico Wind Energy Center, a 204-MW project near House, New Mexico.

Residential and small business customers can purchase the wind energy in blocks of 100 kWh or meet 90% of their monthly electricity needs at a premium of $0.018/kWh. Large business customers can participate by purchasing wind energy as a percentage of their monthly electricity use at the same premium.
