Maine Launches ENERGY STAR ® Residential Lighting Program

March 03, 2003

Maine Governor John E. Baldacci announced on February 25th a new program for consumers sponsored by his office and the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC). The program offers rebates to consumers who purchase compact fluorescent lights and fixtures that carry the ENERGY STAR label. The program is part of a statewide program managed by the PUC to promote the more efficient use of energy called Efficiency Maine.

This residential effort with ENERGY STAR is the second program implemented by the PUC under Efficiency Maine; the first is a program to help small businesses reduce their energy bills. For more details on the new residential lighting program, see the governor's press release.
