Colorado Approves 620 Megawatts of Solar, Wind for Utility
The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) on December 10 approved an Xcel Energy requires to add about 620 megawatts (MW) of wind and solar power sources. Under the ruling, Xcel can add 450 MW of wind resources and acquire 170 MW of photovoltaic solar capacity. The PUC said the decision balances environmental, economic, and reliability goals in supplying its customers’ electric needs through 2018 and beyond. See the PUC press release .
