Google Signs 20-Year Power Purchase Agreement for Oklahoma Wind

September 30, 2012

Google has agreed to purchase the power produced by 48 megawatts (MW) of Grand River Dam Authority's (GRDA) Canadian Hills Wind Project in Oklahoma. The purchase will supply Google's Oklahoma data center. Google will pay GRDA a premium for the renewable energy generated by the wind farm.

Google has entered into one other large-scale power purchase agreement (PPA) when it agreed to purchase the power produced by 114 MW of NextEra Energy's Story County II wind facility in Iowa. This latest PPA with GRDA marks the first time that Google has partnered directly with a utility to power one of its data centers.
