New Vermont Renewable Energy Law Takes Effect
A new Vermont law designed to expand renewable energy and efficiency projects in the state took effect on May 25. The bill, signed by Vermont's governor, will strengthen the state's Clean Energy Development Fund, improve the net metering program, create incentives for biomass heating systems, and update Vermont's Property Assessed Clean Energy districts Program. The state is also looking at coordinating a broad energy plan that is due Oct. 15. That plan could trigger more legislation to move Vermont off fossil fuels. See the governor's press release.
