Wisconsin Governor Signs Wind Turbine Siting Legislation

October 02, 2009

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle signed legislation on October 1 to create uniform statewide wind energy project siting standards. Backers hailed it as a move to streamline a piecemeal regulatory system. The bill, which passed in mid-September, instructs the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to begin an administrative rule-making to establish statewide guidelines for locating wind energy projects. The PSCW will establish a committee to advise it on the rules. See the governor's press release, or read a story about the bill in Wind Energy Weekly published by the American Wind Energy Association.
