Kentucky First Lady Glenna Fletcher wants commonwealth consumers to save energy and money at the same time. Fletcher participated in Energy Star® Change a Light, Change the World Day ceremonies on October 5 in Frankfort, Kentucky, by urging Kentuckians to pledge changing one light at home to an energy-efficient model.

Students from three schools with award-winning energy education programs — Glenn O. Swing Elementary School in Kenton County, Meece Middle School in Somerset, and Harrison County High School in Cynthiana — participated in a public event with Fletcher at the Governor's Mansion. The students presented the First Lady with Energy Star qualified bulbs for the Governor's Mansion. GE Lighting (a subsidiary of General Electric) in Louisville donated compact fluorescent lights for attendees who signed the Energy Star Change a Light Pledge. Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher signed a proclamation declaring October 5 as Energy Star Change a Light, Change the World Day in Kentucky. For more information, see the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy's October 4 press release.
