SEP Special Project, Utah, 2005
This project continued to provide and expand quality residential and light-commercial energy code training curricula and resources related to the 2003 International Energy Conservation Code and ASHRAE 90.1 (2001); worked toward a greater acceptance of energy codes throughout the construction industry with a stronger market driven emphasis toward implementation of code compliance and enforcement; strengthened and maintained a strong energy code specific Internet presence and Web page. The project provided monthly training and educational workshops and seminars that dealt with compliance and enforcement issues as well as current information and understanding of interpretations related to both light-commercial and residential energy codes; increased building code officials' and the housing industry's understanding of the benefits associated with advanced energy design, whole house energy code compliance, and innovative residential construction practices; provided a state-wide (large scale) energy code seminar/workshop that detailed numerous local and state specific training and technical support and resource contacts, as well as consumer friendly tips and tools for all stakeholders on implementation, enforcement, and compliance with the 2003 IECC & AHSRAE 90.1; continued to develop strong partnerships and working relations with key industry allies; continued to provide simple and straightforward methods to understand and strengthen compliance with the IECC 2003; and continued to maintain and provide quality and up-to-date energy code resource information to the public via the Internet.
