Expansion of the delivery of programs and services for ESPC of the Rebuild Kansas program

SEP Special Project, Kansas, 2004

The Kansas Corporation Commission Energy Office is the lead partner in the Rebuild America partnership of Rebuild Kansas. The primary goal of the partnership is to help schools and local and state governments reduce energy consumption through energy efficiency projects and energy service performance contracting.

This grant application is a request for funds to help the KCC enhance the delivery of current programs and services of the Facility Conservation Improvement Program (local and state government) and the Kansas Institutional Conservation Program (K-12 schools). Services range from technical assistance with performance contracting to grants for energy improvements. The benefactors include Kansas' more than 300 school districts, all state-owned buildings (totaling more than 40 million square feet of buildings), and Kansas cities, towns, and counties.

The amount of building space targeted for energy audits and improvements during the grant period exceeds 11.6 million square feet with an estimated annual energy costs saving of nearly $4 million.
