Southeast Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®

SEP Special Project, Georgia, 2003

The Southeast Home Performance with ENERGY STAR project will work to overcome barriers to improving the energy efficiency of existing homes in two key regional markets: Atlanta, Georgia, and Birmingham, Alabama. The project seeks to:

  • Increase the knowledge of renovation professionals on the importance of "whole house" or systems-based energy upgrades.
  • Increase market demand for Home Performance with ENERGY STAR in Atlanta and Birmingham.
  • Develop a self-sustaining, systems-based energy efficiency retrofit program for existing homes.

As a voluntary, market-driven project, it wants to play an important role in stimulating public policy that promotes energy efficiency. The project also has an opportunity to influence the Southeast's growing interest in green building.
