Alaska Rebuild America

SEP Special Project, Alaska, 2003

The Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) will help rural communities implement energy efficiency improvements by providing technical assistance tools, resources, and services, and by leveraging partnership support with public benefit funds and other fiscal resources.

AEA will assess both supply- and demand-side efficiency measures in the communities to maximize overall benefits (i.e., reduced energy costs and environmental risks of oil spills and air emissions, and enhanced system reliability). AEA will continue energy-efficiency training and facility assessments and help village electrical utilities identify measures to increase efficiency of electrical and thermal energy generation.

The program will provide the tools a community needs to implement demand-side and generation-efficiency projects. Alaska Energy Authority will assist the communities by working with other state and federal agencies toward financing and otherwise implementing the energy measures identified.
