2013 IEEE PVSC Honors NREL Scientist, Convenes Researchers and Industry
Dr. Keith Emery of the Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will be honored with the prestigious William R. Cherry Award at this week’s 39th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC) in Tampa, Florida, June 16–21.
IEEE established the William R. Cherry award in 1980 to recognize individual engineers or scientists who have dedicated their professional lives to the advancement of the science and technology of photovoltaic (PV) energy conversion. Dr. Emery is receiving the 2013 Cherry Award for more than three decades of career accomplishments, which include establishing NREL’s PV cell performance characterization laboratory after joining the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI, now NREL) in 1980. Dr. Emery is recognized worldwide as an expert in PV efficiency measurements and performance characterization.
The IEEE PVSC is the world's longest-running technical gathering for the PV industry. A number of SunShot awardees and partners will attend this year’s weeklong conference, which convenes PV scientists, engineers, and industry to discuss the latest research, developments, and trends in the sector.
