Caribbean Regional Sustainable Energy Seminar, July 23

July 14, 2008

The Department of State and Embassy Nassau, The Bahamas, announced funding to the Organization of American States (OAS) to organize the Caribbean Regional Sustainable Energy High Level Seminar on July 23 to address Caribbean energy issues on a policy level. On July 24, the U.S. Embassy has organized a series of business roundtables that will provide a forum to develop practical approaches to integrating renewable energy technology, demonstrate how to attract commercial financing and develop public-private partnerships.

In the Caribbean region, energy experts see a need for greater energy efficiency in the residential and tourism sectors; for energy conservation; for wind and solar power and biofuels, and to harmonize ongoing external partnerships between the Caribbean region and external funding actors.

A broad coalition of Department of State, Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, OAS, Inter-American Development Bank, and private sector individuals have been assembled to drive this conference and your participation is welcome.
