Upcoming Webinars
July 17: Live Webcast on Fuel Cells for Portable Power
The Energy Department will present a live webcast titled "Fuel Cells for Portable Power" on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar will focus on recent R&D advancements in direct methanol fuels and their use in portable power. Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory will discuss advanced materials and the development of new methanol oxidation catalysts, hydrocarbon membranes with reduced methanol crossover, and improvements to component durability. Researchers at the University of North Florida will focus on a "passive-water recovery" MEA, which eliminates the water recovery components, and results in a small, lightweight DMFC power supply. Finally, researchers at Arkema will present their polymer electrolyte membrane design for direct methanol fuels which blends poly (vinylidene fluoride) and with a sulfonated polyelectrolyte.

July 17: Live Webcast on Community Renewable Energy Success Stories
The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled Community Renewable Energy Success Stories: Landfill Gas-to-Energy Projects on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The session will highlight both the challenges and benefits of developing successful community landfill gas-to-energy projects at the Prairie View Recycling and Disposal Facility in Will County, Illinois, and the Perdido Landfill Gas-to-Electricity Project in Escambia County, Florida.

July 19: Complete Clean Energy Projects with Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds (QECBs)
Energy Department's Technical Assistance Program will host a webcast on Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds (QECBs) and related recent guidance on Thursday, July 19th, 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. In June, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service released new public tax guidance for QECBs, making it easier for state and local governments across the country to access the more than $2 billion of existing authority for low-cost financing for energy efficient and renewable energy projects that create jobs. This webcast will provide an overview of QECBs and a deep dive into the new guidance, as well as feature state and local government representatives, whose communities are already benefitting from the issuance of QECBs.
