DOE Webinar June 23: Renewable Power Purchases and Renewable Energy Certificates

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) will present a webinar titled Renewable Power Purchases and Renewable Energy Certificates on Thursday, June 23, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. EDT.
Presented by Chandra Shah of DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), this 90-minute webinar offers insight into leveraging renewable power purchases and renewable energy certificates (RECs) to meet mandates under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, and other federal laws. Specifically, this session outlines:
- Federal renewable energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) goals
- Options for meeting renewable energy goals
- Benefits of renewable power purchases and RECs
- REC basics: definitions, overview, and procurement options
- Purchasing renewable power in a competitive electricity market
- Regulated utility green pricing programs
- Renewable power and REC purchases toward GHG goals
- Case study examples and additional resources
Several federal experts will also be on hand to answer questions after the presentation.
