EnergyValue Housing Award Dinner Announced

January 18, 2007

On February 7, 2007 a group of 11 home builders will be honored for their contributions to improving the energy and environmental performance of their homes with the EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) presented at the 2007 International Builders' Show in Orlando, Florida. Each year, the EVHA program recognizes a new group of visionary builders who have voluntarily integrated energy efficiency into the design, construction, and marketing of their homes and demonstrated successful approaches to energy-efficient construction.

The EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) is the nation's preeminent energy efficiency award honoring builders who voluntarily incorporate energy efficiency into all aspects of new home construction. Builders submit detailed applications in any of five categories (Affordable, Custom/Demonstration, Factory-Built, Multifamily, Production) in one of three climate regions (Cold, Moderate, Hot). A panel of industry experts evaluates the applications and selects winners based on Energy Value, Design, Construction, Marketing and Customer Relations, and Energy Programs. And for the second year in a row, the public can choose its favorite EVHA finalist on the People's Choice Awards web site. Lorraine Bolsinger, vice president of General Electric Company's ecomagination division, will keynote the EVHA dinner ceremony. Ecomagination is a company-wide initiative to address global environmental challenges and bring to market new technologies that will help its customers meet pressing environmental issues such as the need for cleaner, more efficient sources of energy, reduced emissions, and abundant sources of clean water.

EVHA is coordinated by the NAHB Research Center in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the National Association of Home Builders. EVHA tickets are now available for purchase online at http://www.nahbrc.org/evha/tickets.html .
