Clean Cities Webinar February 24: Reducing Vehicle Miles Traveled

February 22, 2011

On Thursday, February 24, 2011, from 3:00 to 4:00 Eastern, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities Initiative will host a Webinar focusing on reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT) in vehicle fleets and for individual consumers.

Speakers include:

  • Caley Johnson (National Renewable Energy Laboratory)
  • Dolores Rebolledo (Granite State Clean Cities, New Hampshire)
  • Dan Kaempff (Oregon Metro)

Reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT) decreases petroleum consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, local pollution, and money spent on fuel. Speakers will explain these multiple benefits and how VMT projects can help achieve Clean Cities coalitions’ and municipalities’ goals. Those taking action at the local level will talk about how they have reduced VMT in New Hampshire and Oregon and explore the positive role these projects can play in a challenging economy.
