Assistant Secretary Karsner Meets High-Tech Firms to Discuss Energy Efficiency

Assistant Secretary Karsner convened a roundtable of information technology executives in Silicon Valley this week. The forum focused on how data centers can be designed and configured to increase energy efficiency. Companies from many parts of the industry, including AMD, Google, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard, attended to meet with Assistant Secretary Karsner and DOE staff. The group will continue its dialogue in the future to discuss energy savings, share best practices and gather input for potential design guidelines.
