DOE Webinar December 1: Procuring Solar Energy for Federal Facilities
November 23, 2010
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) will present a Webinar next Wednesday, December 1, about procuring and integrating solar energy into Federal facilities. The Webinar is a joint effort with the DOE Solar Energy Technologies Program (SETP).
Solar energy plays an important role in meeting federal agency renewable energy targets. Procuring solar energy, however, can pose a unique set of challenges. The Webinar covers the key points within the initial planning process for a solar project, including how to:
- Identify needs and goals
- Assemble an on-site team
- Evaluate candidate solar energy sites
- Consider requirements and recommendations
- Make a financing and contracting decision
- Implement a financing/contracting process
In addition, the Webinar presents financing options for executing a solar project, examples of several completed solar projects on Federal sites, and background on Federal requirements for energy efficiency.
The presentation will take place next Wednesday, December 1, from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and is titled Procuring Solar Energy for Federal Facilities: Practical Guide.
