Energy-Saving Powerhouse Showcases Advanced Technologies to Lower Utility Bills

As homeowners in the Baltimore-Washington metro area brace themselves for impending energy rate hikes, the PowerHouse - a new ultra energy-efficient demonstration home with state-of-the-art technologies and construction techniques teamed with renewable energy systems - presents energy-saving, alternative technologies to lighten the consumer burden.
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Tours of the Powerhouse will take place tomorrow, Friday June 23 at 11:00 am in Bel Air, Maryland.
This high-performance home is one of the first production models in the Mid-Atlantic region to integrate advanced energy-efficient technologies and design methods with renewable energy systems, and is expected to use less than half the energy of a standard code-compliant home. Once open, the home will serve as a demonstration model to educate builders and consumers on how to qualify for government incentives such as the new 2006 Energy Tax Credit, and promote more widespread implementation of these market-ready technologies.
