DOE Announces One Thousandth Request Made for ENERGY STAR Products

April 14, 2009

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is pleased to announce that institutional purchasers have submitted 1,000 requests for ENERGY STAR® appliances and lighting through ENERGY STAR Quantity Quotes. Since its launch in 2006, the site has processed requests for a total of more than 5.8 million appliances and lighting products. Companies, government agencies, and other organizations throughout the United States who buy in bulk can use the site to quickly and easily get competitive bids from suppliers of ENERGY STAR qualified products.

DOE developed ENERGY STAR Quantity Quotes to make it easy to comparison shop for energy-efficient products in the digital world. Prior to the development of Quantity Quotes, purchasers would have to find and contact suppliers individually—a laborious, time consuming process. With this fast and simple tool, institutional customers like multifamily building owners, public housing authorities, state and local governments, universities, and others can easily get competitive bids from ENERGY STAR suppliers. The site was designed to introduce buyers and sellers of ENERGY STAR products.
