Virtual Energy Forum Highlights ITP Initiatives and Save Energy Now
December 11, 2008
Douglas E. Kaempf, Program Manager for the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP), appeared on the Virtual Energy Forum today speaking about energy efficiency in the U.S. manufacturing sector. The Virtual Energy Forum is the premier online conference for private and public sector executives to learn, meet, and interact on topics such as sustainability, alternative energy, clean technologies, green buildings, and operations. It features live streaming video presentations and an ability to ask questions and receive answers in real-time, providing an unparalleled opportunity for public and private sector executives from around the world.
Mr. Kaempf appeared during the manufacturing track and spoke about several of ITP’s current initiatives, including Save Energy Now. Save Energy Now is a national initiative to drive a 25% reduction in industrial energy intensity in 10 years by offering a portfolio of resources to help companies save money and energy. Save Energy Now Energy Assessments have helped U.S. manufacturing facilities save an average of $2 million each, or 8% of their total energy costs. Roland Risser, the U.S. Advisory Group Chair for the ISO Project Committee, also appeared during the same track to give an overview of the energy management standard and the progress of the committee. ITP has been the principal supporter of the ISO Standard in the United States.
