A Framework for Offshore Wind Energy Development in the United States

November 15, 2005

To advance the United States' ability to harness its immense offshore wind resources for production of clean, sustainable energy, the U.S. Department of Energy partnered with the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative and GE to recently release A Framework for Offshore Wind Energy Development in the United States. This identifies technical, environmental and regulatory issues facing offshore wind energy as a commercially, politically, socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable energy resource in the United States. The Framework is intended to set the stage for a broad, multi-sector Offshore Wind Collaborative expected to launch in 2006 following completion of a business/organizational plan.
