EERE offers webinars to the public on a range of subjects, from adopting the latest energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies to training for the clean energy workforce. The Energy Department will present a live webcast titled "Innovation and Success in Organizing and Strategizing a Local Solar Effort" on Friday, June 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webcast will provide an overview of the Solar Ready KC project, an effort that united five local governments and the Kansas City metropolitan area's largest electric utility to implement solar-friendly best management practices to streamline solar permitting and planning processes. The webcast will focus on strategies employed, first-year outcomes, and lessons learned as part of this region-wide effort.

June 17: Live Webinar on the Advanced Rooftop Unit Campaign

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Overview of the Advanced RTU Campaign" on Monday, June 17, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar will provide a review of strategies that businesses have used to implement high-efficiency HVAC rooftop unit (RTU) technology in their buildings and will give an introduction to the Advanced RTU Campaign (ARC). The webinar will also provide information on the energy- and cost-savings potential of RTUs, the benefits of joining ARC, how to join, and what to expect after joining. Two case studies will be presented.

June 24: Live Webinar on Ionic Liquid Pretreatment

The Energy Department will present a live webcast titled "Ionic Liquid Pretreatment Technologies" on Monday, June 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Dr. Blake Simmons of Sandia National Laboratories will present on the discovery, design, and optimization of an ionic liquid pretreatment technology. This technology will allow for efficient processing of hardwoods, softwoods, agricultural residues, and other energy crops for later conversion to biofuels and bioproducts. By advancing research on this technique, Sandia is further contributing to the Energy Department's goals of creating reliable, sustainable, domestic biofuels.

June 26: Live Webcast on Solar Permitting and Inspections

The Energy Department will present a live webcast titled "Innovation and Success in Solar Permitting and Inspections" on Wednesday, June 26, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webcast will highlight several successful initiatives to streamline and standardize permitting requirements for local solar photovoltaic projects. Presentation topics include the initiatives' outcomes, financial impacts, and economic growth opportunities as well as an introduction to available resources for local jurisdictions interested in implementing solar permitting initiatives on their own.

June 26: Renewable Energy Project Leasing on Tribal Lands Webinar

The Energy Department's Office of Indian Energy, the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Tribal Energy Program, and the Western Area Power Administration will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar, "Renewable Energy Project Leasing on Tribal Lands," on Wednesday, June 26, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Matthew Kirkland, Real Estate Services Division Chief at the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), will provide an overview of leasing regulations and discuss how the HEARTH Act of 2012 helps eliminate delays, costs, environmental reviews, administrative and judicial litigation, and risks associated with BIA review and approval of tribal leases of Indian land. There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.
