May 29: Live Webinar on Regional Transmission Planning

The Energy Department's Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs, its Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Tribal Energy Program, and its Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar titled "Regional Transmission Planning" today from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Speakers from WAPA's Rocky Mountain Region, its Upper Great Plains Region, and WestConnect will provide an overview of various interconnection-based regional transmission planning efforts. June 24: Live Webinar on Ionic Liquid Pretreatment

The Energy Department will host a live webcast titled "Ionic Liquid Pretreatment Technologies" on Monday, June 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Dr. Blake Simmons of Sandia National Laboratories will present on the discovery, design, and optimization of an ionic liquid pretreatment technology. This technology will allow for efficient processing of hardwoods, softwoods, agricultural residues, and other energy crops for later conversion to biofuels and bioproducts. By advancing further research on this technique, Sandia is further contributing to the Energy Department's goals of creating reliable, sustainable, domestic biofuels.
