June 11, 2008
On June 5, 2008, the Industrial Technologies Program, part of the office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, sponsored a Southeast Industrial Energy Efficiency Summit at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN. The summit brought together industry officials from a large range of manufacturing sectors, utility executives, and representatives from state energy offices from the Southeast region with DOE and laboratory officials.
Led by the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, the attendees formed a sustainable partnership to reduce energy intensity in the Southeast region by leveraging each other's resources and maintaining an open dialogue about challenges unique to the area.
“This meeting is a convening of the right people and the right ideas at the right time. I am so grateful for your exemplary commitment to improving efficiency in the fastest growing region in the country,” said Assistant Secretary Andy Karsner during his keynote speech.
The SE Summit is the first in a series of partnership meetings to address the changing energy needs of the United States.
