DOE Releases Schedule for New Appliance Standards
DOE has set a five-year schedule for issuing appliance standards rulemakings that will save U.S. consumers billions of dollars in energy costs. The five-year plan, released on January 31st, outlines how DOE will address the appliance standards rulemaking backlog and meet all of the statutory requirements established in the Energy Policy and Conservation Act and the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The schedule commits DOE to issuing new standards for all products in the backlog by June 2011. See the DOE press release and view the five-year schedule and related documents on DOE's Appliances and Commercial Equipment Standards Web site.
