GM and DaimlerChrysler Fuel-Cell Vehicles Help Deliver the Mail
General Motors Corporation (GM) announced on June 15th that it will lease a fuel-cell-powered minivan to the U.S. Postal Service for deliveries around the nation's capital. The Postal Service will begin using the vehicle in September, and will fuel it at a retail hydrogen pump that is being built by GM and Shell Hydrogen. Shell Hydrogen broke ground on that project in April. See the press releases from GM and Shell Hydrogen.

UPS has been operating a DaimlerChrysler fuel-cell vehicle on a daily express-delivery route since February. The DaimlerChrysler "F-cell" vehicle is based on a Mercedes-Benz A-Class and is powered by a Ballard fuel cell. UPS is using the vehicle on one of its routes around Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is fueling it at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory.
