What's Your Excuse?: Malcolm Video (Text Version)

Below is the text version of the What's Your Excuse?: Malcolm video, a public service announcement from the "What's Your Excuse?" campaign.

A boy is interviewing another boy in his bedroom. The camera focuses in on the interviewer.

(Interviewer)
So, uhh, Malcolm… You do know that energy savers last six times longer than ordinary light bulbs.

The camera switches to Malcolm. He shifts his weight uncomfortably and stammers as he responds.

(Malcolm)
This isn't my room. It's… it's Baron Davis's.

The camera zooms in on an autographed basketball on a shelf behind the interviewer.

(Interviewer)
Baron Davis? The basketball player?  This is his room?

(Malcolm)
Yep.

(Interviewer)
Interesting, because we have Baron Davis right here.

Malcolm turns at the sound of approaching footsteps. Baron Davis walks into the room, looks around, and stops next to Malcolm.

(Interviewer)
Baron, do you live here?

(Baron)
No.

Malcolm looks up at Baron Davis and, after a moment, answers.

(Malcolm)
I don't mean that Baron Davis.

Everyone falls silent.  Malcolm smiles nervously.

The "What's your Excuse?" logo appears, as a voiceover asks, "Millions of kids are using energy wisely. What's your excuse?"
