Virginia Tech Solar Decathlon Home on Good Morning America
January 29, 2010
On Thursday, January 28, Good Morning America featured the home that Virginia Tech entered into the 2009 Solar Decathlon. The solar-powered home was honored in Times Square, while ABC's Sam Champion talked with a member of Virginia Tech's Solar Decathlon team about the home's attributes and future.
The segment, which took place during a snow flurry, included a description of Solar Decathlon's goals—promoting the development of solar power and energy efficient design through biannual inter-university competition—as well as a mention of where the public can go for more information.
The Solar Decathlon is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and brings 20 teams of college and university students together from the United States and Europe to compete in designing, building, and living in small, solar-powered homes. This event takes place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and will be held again in 2011. Read more about the competition on the Solar Decathlon Web site.
