Assistant Secretary Testifies on Efficient Lighting Technologies

September 12 – Alexander Karsner, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), gave testimony before the U.S. Senate's Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. He spoke on energy efficient lighting technologies, specifically on how EERE is working to develop and commercialize these technologies.
Assistant Secretary Karsner described the work done in EERE's Building Technologies program to improve efficiency, as well as sponsoring research on compact fluorescent lighting and solid state lighting. Assistant Secretary Karsner also mentioned initiatives such as 18seconds.org, EERE's partnership with Disney-Pixar to promote general energy efficiency with elements from the film "Ratatouille," and Secretary Bodman's TEAM Initiative, which aims to decrease DOE's energy use by 30%.
