ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. www.18seconds.org was recently launched as an interactive tool to track purchases of CFLs nationwide and empower Americans to make a positive impact on their energy use.

"It is great to see private organizations taking a role in raising awareness of the need for energy efficiency. It is important that all Americans realize the need for prudent use of our energy resources," said Dickerson.
