December 04, 2006
Speaking to the 5th annual policy conference of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) via video, Assistant Secretary Andy Karsner addressed the urgent need for ongoing renewable energy research, development, and deployment. Karsner said, "All of you gathered are on the leading edge of change in this country. Your agenda will shape and define the national agenda, and President Bush, Secretary Bodman, and I are proud to support accelerating market penetration of clean energy for transportation and generation as a primary means to address issues of energy security, economic competitiveness, and environmental well-being." ACORE's conference was held in conjunction with the Renewable Energy Caucuses of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, in Washington, DC, from November 29-30. The theme of the conference was "Phase II of Renewable Energy in America: Market Forecasts and Policy Requirements."
