DOE Offers $467.6 Million for Geothermal and Solar Energy Projects

DOE will direct $467.6 million in Recovery Act funds toward geothermal and solar energy projects, including $350 million for geothermal energy projects and $117.6 for solar energy projects. The solar projects will address both photovoltaic systems and concentrating solar power systems.

DOE Offers $50 Million in Recovery Act Funds for Geothermal Heat Pumps

DOE will offer nearly $50 million in funds from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to accelerate the deployment of geothermal heat pumps, which provide an efficient means of heating and cooling buildings and providing them with hot water.

Report: Utilities with the Most Solar Power are Still Adding the Most

Among U.S. utilities, those with the most experience with solar power continue to be the ones installing the most new solar power, according to a new report from the Solar Electric Power Association. Customer-located solar power systems continue to dominate the market, but that trend may change soon.

EIA: Global Carbon Dioxide Emissions Projected to Increase 39% by 2030

In the absence of specific policies to limit greenhouse gas emissions, the world's energy use is expected to increase by 44% between 2006 and 2030, causing a 39% increase in global carbon dioxide emissions, according to DOE's Energy Information Administration (EIA).
